Day 50

It has been another busy day. With all my focus devoted to just one estate, it was high time for me to catch up on my other focus areas. I put together and mailed out a whole stack of letters, which I will follow up with phone calls in a couple of days.

I also got out of the office and did some doorknocking. Like many things, doorknocking becomes easier the more you do of it. The hardest part is always the first house, after that it gets exponentially easier. I am experimenting a little with times of day to get the most out of the exercise, and at this stage (for the area I am working) it appears that the 4.30-5.30 pm timeslot is working well. There aren't many people around during the day, but late afternoon you can catch a lot of people returning home from work. As yet, no real interest from the people I have visited, but it is early days yet.

Tip of the Day:

When doorknocking, you have to be careful to avoid mealtimes. Don't even bother trying from about midday to 2pm or anything much after 5.30pm - nobody likes being interrupted while they are eating - and even if the people you visit are thinking about selling, it is unlikely they are going to let you in on that fact if you have called them from a meal.
